SummaryWill E3 Graphics Base work with Windows 7 and 32 or 64 bit Operating Systems?
URL NameWill-E3-Graphics-Base-work-with-Windows-7-and-32-or-64-bit-Operating-Systems
Resolution
Whilst not certified to do so, Graphics Base will run on a Windows 7 / 32 bit environment.
However, the removal of NTVDM from 64 bit Windows Operating Systems means that third party virtualisation is the only possible way to run Graphics Base natively on a 64bit Windows environment.
  1. If you are trying to run Graphics Base on a 64bit machine, you can do so by installing a Virtual Machine such as Virtual Box, Virtual PC or VMWare and then installing a 32bit Operating system version of Windows XP or Windows 7 within. Then you can install Graphics Base within this Virtual Machine.
  2. The other option would be to arrange for your PC to be downgraded to a 32bit Operating system so that Graphics Base can be installed directly there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating-system-level_virtualization"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
Cause
Graphics Base uses a 16bit installer when deployed onto a Windows environment and so cannot be deployed and run natively on a 64 bit Windows Operating System without significant recoding (something which JDA do not plan to do as the Client application is the go forward UI) or use of virtualisation.
Additional Information
Other options that could be considered to Graphics Base include:

Installing an alternative Green Screen Emulator

You can install IBM client access or TN5250 as an alternative Green Screen emulator. This will grant you a similar view to the E3 database as Graphics Base would, albeit you cannot access the Item/SKU graphs from these standard emulators.

Upgrade to Client Server

You can upgrade to the latest possible version of Client that is compatible with your currently installed Sever environment. Please raise a software request on support.jda.com if you wish to do this.
