- There isn't a specific maximum size for DXF files.
- For Floor Planning 9.0 and below, the maximum amount of data that Floor Planning handles is just under 2 gigabytes.
- For Floor Planning 9.1 and above, when installed on a 64-bit Windows operating system, Floor Planning will now access up to 4 GB of available memory (the previous limit was 2 GB). The 2 GB limit remains unchanged if Floor Planning is installed on a 32-bit operating system.
- This means that the size of a DXF isn't the only relevant element. The 2 GB of RAM is used by a combination of:
- The memory currently being used by Floor Planning itself
- All other data currently loaded, including floorplans, and models and images for 3D views
- The memory to read the DXF file and retain the relevant content for our data structure
- If there are already large floorplans open, with 3D views, or with lots of models and images, those elements could already be nearing a total of 2GB of data. Importing any size DXF file could exceed available memory.
