Resolution
  1. Choose File > Settings > Settings (see Additional Information below for older versions of Space Planning)
  2. Select the Fixture Location IDs tab

  1. Apply desired settings and click OK.  Below is a breakdown of each option.
Mode:
  • Automatic to have Location IDs generated automatically by settings on this screen.
  • Manual to manually specify a Location ID for each fixture; this is achieved using the 'Renumber Location IDs' button on the toolbar:
Horizontal Order:
  • This can be set to the Traffic Flow of the planogram (defaults to Left to Right if not set), or Left to Right or Right to Left.
  • eg. if Left to Right, the left-most fixture would be numbered before any fixtures to the right
Vertical Order:
  • Top to Bottom: highest fixtures (eg. the top one) would be numbered before those lower down
Depth Order:
  • If all fixtures start at the same location (eg. at the backboard of the planogram), this setting will make no difference.
  • Front to Back: number forward-most fixtures ahead of those further back.
Row/Column Order:
  • Should fixtures be numbered first vertically or horizontally first?
  • Vertical: Start at the top (or bottom, depending on the Vertical Order setting).  The Y location then takes precedence over the X location
  • Horizontal: Start at the left (or right, depending on the Horizontal Order setting).  The X location then takes precedence over the Z location
Restart at #1 for each planogram:
  • In a multi-planogram project, ensures that the lowest numbered fixture on each planogram is always 1
Work segment by segment:
  • Will complete numbering within each segment before moving to the next segment
Restart at #1 for each segment:
  • As numbering in each segment is complete, the next segment numbering starts at 1.  This may be useful if printing your planograms one segment at a time, with an accompanying single-segment schematic report.
Number open shelves before other fixture types:
  • Numbers open shelves before moving on to number other fixture types
Number pegboards before other fixture types:
  • Numbers pegboards before moving on to number other fixture types
Ignore sign fixture type:
  • Signs will be ignored for the purpose of Location ID numbering
Ignore obstruction fixture type:
  • Obstructions will be ignored for the purpose of Location ID numbering
Ignore subplanogram spacefixture type:
  • Subplanograms will be ignored for the purpose of Location ID numbering

Additional Information
What do I do with a Location ID?
Location IDs can be used in a fixture label and a table; this can then be used as a common reference between a printed planogram and accompanying schematic report.

Common settings
If you don't know where to start, a generally common setting for Fixture Location IDs is as follows:
  • Mode: Automatic
  • Horizontal Order: Left to Right
  • Vertical Order: Top to Bottom (equally, Bottom to Top is common)
  • Restart at 1 for each planogram: Yes
  • Work segment by segment: Yes
  • Ignore signs, obstructions: Yes
Try the settings above and turn on a Fixture Label to see the result; experiment with different settings to find the result that works for you.

Older versions of Space Planning
The settings themselves are the same, but you will find these under: Settings > Location IDs > Fixture...

After configuring fixture numbering, you can create a label to display each fixture's location ID.
