Resolution

Following are the steps to configure a project file to be editable if it is currently in read-only mode:

Scenario 1: To resolve if the planogram file is opened directly from a zip file:

  1. Uncompress the file before using it.
  2. Re-open the planogram from the extracted files.

Scenario 2: To resolve if the planogram file attribute is set to read-only:

  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where the file is located.
  2. Right-click the file and select Properties.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Check if the Read-only attribute is selected. If it is, uncheck it and click OK.

Error Message Code

Warning message: <planogram filename>.psa will be opened for reading purposes only

Sample - Coffee Makers.psa file is in read only mode

Cause

This problem may occur when any of the following conditions are true:

  • Project file opened from a zip file without extracting
  • Project file is set to read-only status when the space planning application crashes
  • Project file is set to read-only when multiple users access the same file
Additional Information

By default, a planogram file is marked as read-only when used by a single user to prevent multiple users from making concurrent changes to the same file stored in a common network location. This read-only behavior can be configured in Space Planning. It is advised not to change the default read-only behavior unless necessary.

Default setting: Settings Window > Files tab > Read-only behavior section > 'Keep open files read-only for other users' is selected by default.
