TitleCan Oracle Linux be used instead of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, for JDA Platform based applications?
SummaryOracle Linux is compiled from Red Hat Enterpise Linux (RHEL) Open Source code, with Red Hat branding replaced by Oracle Branding. The code base and kernel are identical in all other aspects and Oracle certify that Oracle Linux will behave identically to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Does using Oracle Linux, instead of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, affect any support entitlements for JDA products.

Resolution
JDA cannot certify Oracle Linux, as we do not test and develop software on this Operating system. However, we see no reason why a fix developed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, would not work on Oracle Linux.

Customers have successfully implemented a number of JDA products on Oracle Linux without issue, and JDA has no concerns about its use as part of a software stack.

Although Oracle Linux is not part of the Certified Stack, no support entitlements are affected by its use.

Cause
The JDA Support Statement, states that JDA software is only developed and tested on certified platforms. However, JDA Support will accept any issues raised by maintenance paying customer, that are replicable on a certified platform, whether it the original case was raised against a certified stack or not.

However, because fixes are only developed and tested on certified platforms, JDA cannot guarantee that all fixes will work on all non-certified platforms.
